White Denim’s live show, after being totally obsessed with their studio albums (stream my favorite HERE), completely blew me away. I didn’t know if I was going to be in town, so procuring a ticket to the sold-out show was a bit challenging. I decided I would gamble & go to the venue early to see if they may release some tickets. Got in line at 7:15p & ended up getting 1 of the 10 tickets they released at the door at 8:45p. I was committed! Since I wasn’t even ready to go out (still in yoga gear!), I blasted home to get ready & got back to the venue by their set-time, 11p. The nice people I waited with in line were up in the front left with room for me so I stood in front of the masterful Austin on guitar, which pretty much blew my mind. Those guys are experts at what they are doing! And so goddamn happy about it onstage, too! I smiled waaay more than normal at a show, just cuz those guys were all beaming at each other. Too rad. It was their first non-opening/non-thirty minute set in weeks (they were opening for Wilco) so they got to stretch out more & I was VERY stoked I waited for a full set as my first time seeing them VS. catching them open. Blown away. Cannot wait to see/hear more from them as we go. AND they use Topspin, the bitchin’est music-tech company I just started working for this week! Follow Topspin’s Tumblr HERE where I’ll be making daily posts about artists using the platform!
